V1 operating history

Approximately 15 years

Transformer service scope

Up to 500 MVA · assessed per project

Second generation

Newly built · ready for deployment

Two generations

Experience, carried forward.

Both versions are ready for operation. V1 provides the field history; V2 incorporates that experience and has completed internal quality-control testing.

VEX v1

Long-running field equipment with regular upgrades and systematic periodic maintenance.

Established field system

VEX v2

A new build informed by V1 experience. Ready for deployment or sale; field service history is still to come.

Internally tested · ready for deployment

Treatment process

Filter. Heat. Treat. Recirculate.

01

Filtration

Multi-stage particle filtration, with a washable metal-mesh filter and a 7-micron paper filter. 5- and 3-micron options can be specified.

02

Controlled heating

Independently controlled heaters distribute heat transfer along the pipe path. A critical-temperature condition shuts down all heaters.

03

Vacuum treatment

Oil is sprayed through multiple nozzles in the vacuum chamber for dehydration and degassing.

04

Return & recirculation

Oil returns to the transformer. Treatment is repeated according to oil condition and the required quality; bypass flow adjusts internal recirculation.

Process overview. Pass count and treatment time depend on oil condition, project requirements and laboratory results.

Equipment specification

Designed for field service.

Shared nominal specification for VEX v1 and VEX v2
Nominal single-pass oil flow12,000 L/h · bypass closed
Vacuum pumpULVAC PKS-030
Pump design pumping speed180 m³/h · manufacturer specification
Oil-pump motors2 × 5.5 kW rated mechanical output
Oil-pump connections2 inches
Installed heaters12 × 11 kW · independently controlled
Electrical supplyThree phases + neutral · 380 V line-to-line
Operating temperatureUp to 70°C · controlled heating
Footprint / height220 × 160 cm / 220 cm
Approximate weight3 tonnes

Heater ratings describe installed capacity, not simultaneous electrical demand. Operation with fewer heaters can accommodate limited power availability, with longer treatment time. Electrical requirements are confirmed for each configuration. Pump catalogue pumping speed is distinct from chamber operating pressure.

Services & equipment

The right scope for your equipment.

Equipment & custom builds

Oil-treatment equipment configured for operating conditions, with optional HMI and IoT/IIoT integration.

Oil-treatment service

Filtration, dehydration and degassing, with post-treatment laboratory assessment. Online operation is assessed per transformer.

Maintenance & overhaul

Transformer and substation inspection and maintenance, with project-specific overhaul requirements.

Training & support

Application-specific operator training and agreed support for equipment delivery and field projects.

Beyond oil treatment

Transformer & substation maintenance.

Our field work also covers transformer inspection, maintenance and overhaul, alongside power-network and substation maintenance. Equipment inspection, project quality oversight, safety review and final testing form part of my responsibility. The work is defined around each transformer’s condition and the site’s requirements.

A family engineering business

Niroo Sadraye Bargh Fars is our family business, founded by my father. I have worked closely across its equipment design, manufacturing and field operation throughout the years. My brother, a power electrical engineer, also works in the business.

My responsibility

I led the complete design and supervised construction of both VEX generations, with technical contributions from my father, my brother and other specialists, informed by scientific and engineering references. My work includes pre-production simulation, software, production coordination, periodic inspection and performance monitoring. I am the technical director and a current board member, with decision-making responsibility for this business. Across field projects, I oversee quality, equipment safety review and final testing after the work.

Project evidence

Measured after treatment.

Eight V1 post-treatment samples in the supplied laboratory reports record water content of 8–13 mg/kg and breakdown voltage of 60–67 kV. Both properties were assessed as “Good” in each report.

Selected samples, not a universal guarantee. No paired pre-treatment results are included. Gas analysis is a separate assessment: one sample is IEEE Status 2 with six-month follow-up recommended. These reports do not certify V2 field performance or directly measure cellulose moisture.

Before we begin

A clear starting point.

Can equipment be configured for my project?

Yes. Custom configurations can include HMI, IoT/IIoT and application-specific operator training. Send your location, required oil-treatment capacity, available power and operating requirements so the configuration and delivery scope can be assessed.

Is treatment possible while a transformer is energised?

Online treatment has been carried out with VEX v1. Suitability is assessed for each transformer and site; it is not assumed for every installation. Transformer-tank evacuation is a separate consideration from vacuum treatment inside the equipment.

Do the laboratory results apply to both versions?

The supplied post-treatment field reports relate to VEX v1. VEX v2 is newly built and internally quality-control tested, ready for deployment or sale. Final acceptance conditions and any project-specific testing are agreed with the customer.

What should I send for an initial assessment?

Start with the project location, equipment or service requirement, transformer rating and voltage, a short description of oil condition, and any recent test reports. If some details are unavailable, a short written brief is enough to start the discussion.

Equipment / maintenance / custom builds

Start with the transformer. Define the right scope.

Equipment builds, oil treatment and broader transformer or substation maintenance are scoped separately. Online treatment, tank evacuation and insulation drying require assessment of the specific transformer and operating conditions. HMI, IoT/IIoT options and application-specific training can be included in custom projects.

Send the location, transformer rating, oil condition and whether you need equipment or field service. International delivery and service depend on project economics and destination requirements.
